I DON'T WANT

BY

LAURA CHRISTIAN (AND JESUS)

I don't want pity, and
I don't want strife,
I don't want words
That hold no life.

I don't want hate
I don't want a smile,
That holds a secret of sin or guile.

I don't want love, that loves to be,
In other people's business that's not for me.

I don't want you if you're the one
Who makes others unhappy, and thinks it's fun.

I don't want to see people on T.V.,
That play with life and make a game of plight.

I don't want fun
If it's the sum,
Of selfishness
Or a thoughtless pun.

I don't want life
From the Devil's breast,
I don't want his tricks
Or hidden death.

I don't want money
Although it buys honey,
If it's gotten by leaving
Someone else running.

I don't want glory
It's an age old story,
Stealing it from God
Will leave you looking gory.

I don't want style
When it's the thing to do,
If I'm only thinking of me
Not you.

I don't want to leave
The earth with my home,
Splotched with a blotch
Of sin and shame.
